Texas gulf coast sailing
Heads up summer sailing is upon us and it’s been blowing no less than 20 to 25 knots for a month now along the Texas coast. We’re headed to Port Aransas May 14 weekend hoping it to slow a bit in the 15 to 20 knot range, let us know if there are any other Macs in the area , we have a new asymmetrical Spin cain wait to try out. Cheers

Ah, PA and Corpus Christi, my old stomping grounds...
Be Free's latest accounts of his Florida Gulf Coast sailing have me considering the possibility of doing some sailing out in the Gulf, something I did not do when I lived there as a teenager. I can't get down to meet you, but would love to read about your exploits, maybe give me the courage to give it a try.

Yeah, that's a little far for me as well. I'm still working my way up and around the Big Bend area looking for good anchorages. It will be a LONG time before I make it to the Texas line (if ever).

We are in the area and plan to be on the coast (North Padre Is.) in June. Maybe we will run into you then.
Taking ours for a shakeout this weekend @ Canyon Lake. (First time in the water since we bought it in VA last October.) Sure hope it floats.
Hope you have nothing but smooth sailing and following seas.

Love Canyon lake usually a good breeze ,fresh water to flush out the motor. I sailed there a tone on the Hobiecat 16 in my 20s. I am sure I will be back down to Port A in June so keep me posted here with your schedule. I live in Houston but sail mostly The coastal bend area for all the green water . Galveston bay is closer for day trips. We are staying in the city marina slips to plug in and run the ac to sleep, upper 70s for the low that’s normal with high humidity. I will try to do a you tube video for this trip. Cheers Captain Mike and Connie on the Wanita G.

Great time in Port Aransas Texas over the weekend. We got a slip for two nights next to the giants Cats and Mono hulls over 40 ft. Sailed Saturday return then Sunday. Sleeping with a window ac in the companion way hatch. Because it’s 77 degrees at night here. Both days we would motor upwind about 5 miles to a destination anchor/ lunch then sail down wind like crazy averaging 6 knots broad reaching and on a run with only my new to me used $ 100.00 hank on 125% Genoa no main up . This was effortless sailing trip and great fun here.we hit 6.93 on the Garmin and yes thing’s were flying about in the cabin.

Looks like a good time to me! The one thing about sailing a monohull; the cabin contents need to be secured. Or, you can sit back and try to guess what's crashing about based on the noise it makes...
Thanks for posting!

Looks like that was a hoot! Thanks for sharing those pictures.
Our excursion at Canyon Lake came off without a hitch. She floats and the motor runs, so next steps are working on rigging and sails. Taking her out again this next weekend. Might have an actual sailboat sometime soon.
