Bunk cover replacement

Post by beechkingd »

I recently replaced the bunk carpet on my trailer with some of the hard plastic covering. I found that it went on easier than carpet and looks way better. As an added benefit when I pulled my boat out of the water for the season, the boat Mac Bump worked again and easier then ever. For several years my boat wouldn't move when performing the bump. This year I barely tapped the brakes and it slid forward to the front perfectly.

This is the stuff I used. I only needed to use half of the roll of cover and ran out of screws. I recommend drilling pilot holes, the screws are stainless and will strip easily. I saw quite a few reviews saying they were not quality screws but in my experience that’s just how stainless screw are. They certainly don’t like being forced into pressure treated without predrilling.

It looks like a good product. I’d be interested in you posting at the end of next season with a report on the wear of the product. Inquiring minds want to know.

I doubt my limited trailer usage would be much of a test. Other that maybe 8 months of UV exposure, since I splash it once.

Interesting. Would be curious how well the "Mac Bump" performs on a plastic surface vs. carpet bunks.
