my sailboat ( Venture 25) has a set up for throttle and gear selector on the port side of the cockpit , I have a older mercury 6hp motor that I would like to connect the controls to, any Ideas suggestions pointers on how to do it. Ill post photos tomorrow. thanks

I'd try to get a manual for that outboard. There might be some instructions there.

Assuming that the outboard was designed to have remote throttle, shift, and steering cables attached it should just be a matter of connecting the right ends on the cables. The cables themselves are generic with threaded ends. There are different engine specific ends that thread onto them.
