A nice time to be out sailing is the day of a full moon. See the sun set and then the moon rising.

I just got promoted to Admiral. The last time I got moted was when I was in the army in Nam in '65, and got demoted from E5 to E4. It was shortly after I got blown into the Saigon River. I was so stressed that I was having audio hallucinations, as well as some agent orange conditions. I said that "I'm going to quit the army and walk home if I have to". That didn't go too good (see above).
When I was flying back to CONUS, the plane landed in Hawaii, and we were told that there was a free steak dinner inside. Everyone else got off the plane except for me. I was afraid that they were going to send me back to Nam. I stayed aboard, and tightened my seatbelt. There probably aren't many people that have flown to Hawaii and not gotten off the plane.
Sailing is a big help. I like to go out and listen to the quiet.

Happy report for summer sailing in Peachtree Lake, GA. My son Kasey and I enjoyed a good four hours of sailing in 12-15 knot winds, albeit fluky at times due to shoreline effects on a relatively small lake. Still great sailing and even greater "father-son" outing.

Coincidentally, about the time I took that selfie, I had remarked that I don't feel like I'm about to turn 80, and my son, Kasey, remarked that he didn't feel like he had just turned 50 either. And thanks for the corrected pic. The trimaran doesn't heel much, but a couple of gusts "encouraged" me to hop out of my seat and climb up on the trampoline just in case! The tandem island kayaks have a break away plastic bolt that holds each of the amas in their extended positions. If the leeward ama digs in too far, the drag causes the bolts to fail, the ama then folds into the hull...and then the drama begins, but the boat is not harmed.

Been in the high 90's this week. Plus embroiled in a water intrusion problem in my garage due to failed hot water heater. If all else fails weather wise for sailing, i do have a summer back up plan.

I know. I am quoting myself. Still, I am thrilled I was able to find a weather window and get out on the water. My buddy, Lamar, and I just motored for about an 2 hours, but it was great. The weatherman had predicted 60% chance of storms, but they held off until later in the afternoon. Had to walk a city block towing the cart with gas and gear. Our rivership, Barbara Lee, had a full boat and parking was distant. Arthritis on in my right knee and plantar fasciitis in in the left foot, but it was worth it. The old man can still do it---in the summer---in Florida!

Thanks. What great cruising area you are in. I learned sailing racing in the Chesapeake. When you pass Thomas Point lighthouse, Point No Point, the Severn River, or Kent Island, our wakes will have crossed. Not with my Mac unfortunately, but back in the '60's with a Luder yawl. Enjoy.

The heat and humidity and roving thunderstorms here in SC have kept us ashore this past weekend!
Just sucks the oomph out of one……

Even with the fans on in the garage it was a sweat sauna!

During the day, the normal summertime activities are working ie pool, shade, cool drinks, etc.

We are on the water motoring when traveling between marinas. Then we have the breeze created by 3500 RPM’s with the Iron Genny.

Impossible to sleep without the 5000 BTU air conditioner in the companionway. That’s why we stop at marina’s with electric hook up.
