New Owner of 97 Mac26x

Post by Jokers Bounty »

I picked up a 97 Mac26X that had been out of water for the last 5 years. After much cleaning I got her in the water and floated for the season. I'm likely to keep it as a motorsailer, and am looking for more info on those who have modified masts for such purpose.

I saw the attached pics here, but am looking for more details(drawings, pics of mounting, etc...)

Welcome to the MacGregor Sailors Forum Jokers Bounty!

Looks like your off to a great start already!
There are lots of folks here with lots of experience and knowledgeable opinions.
(BTW it’s traditional that newbies buy the pizza and drinks :D 8) 8) :D )

On our Over Easy (Mac26X circa 2001) we have exclusively used her as a motor cruiser which has worked out really well for our adventures over the past several years. We operate primarily in tidal estuaries and rivers that are not really all that conducive to sail power. We’ve also gone on several extended trips as a cruiser on Lake Champlain and Lake Winnipesaukee. Our current and future intentions are to cruise the Intra Coastal Waterway as well as sections of the Great Loop. The MacGregor 26X (and 26M) are really nice pocket cruisers!

Again, Welcome!

Best Regards
Over Easy 8) 8)

Welcome!

Many Mac owners operate sans mast. It's a perfect boat for comfort and low draft.

There is the resources section of the main site where you can find manuals and information specific to your boat.

This thread discusses the "Mac Trawler"

If you include 1998, I totally agree!
