Oregon boater/kayak, canoe, raft permit requirements for 2026

Post by OverEasy »

Hi All!

Did you hear about the new Oregon boating permit requirement that are in effect for this 2026 season?
https://www.the-sun.com/news/16087201/o ... -law-fine/

Part of this new legislation, in addition to permitting and fines is random “pop-up” on water inspections.
I’m wondering how they are going to do an ‘on water’ inspection of our water ballasted boats?
Any ideas?

Best Regards,

Interesting.

Invasive species and mussels are a big concern for lakes and waterways.

Here, we were required to apply for a "free" permit that we could obtain after completing an online education course on invassive species.
They also had inspection stations with steam to "clean" contaminated boats. We could bypass the inspection station with our permit sticker.
After a few years they either ran out of money for the program or they claim they didn't find invasives on boats entering so they stopped it.

It's very interesting that they are requiring these on small paddle powered boats and stand up paddleboards.
