Head legroom and feetroom enlargement
As I have gotten older the circumference of my middle section has increased. I cut out the head cabinet area to make it easier for me to get my feet in the head. Hope it gives y'all an idea if you want to mod your head.

What is that behind the sink? My boat only has a bulkhead there.

Be,
Someone gave me their galley insert from a X a number of years ago. I have been using the cuddy pockets from the insert to make extra storage areas around the boat that aren't being utilized efficiently. The thing you are looking at in my picture will be a toilet paper holder that I made from a cutoff portion of one of those cuddy pockets. The X insert has a big buddy pocket under the small one. I mounted the big one on the panel to the aft of the cooler holder box in the aft galley settee. You can see another cutoff I mounted the pocket on the cabin walkway under the settee of the galley. It is not shown in the picture I attached but I just mounted my last pocket to the port of the cooler box on the panel in the walkway. I hope that helps. Tony

Hi TonyHouk!
Nice jobs!
Great ideas & use of the old cubbies!
Looks great!
The extra foot space in the head is a great idea!
We’re gonna keep this in mind for that black galley section we pulled out when we modified our galley a couple years ago.
(Our insert is just taking up space in the garage so getting something useful out of it is an excellent idea….)
Best Regards,

Hi Tony, You have more courage than I when it comes to cutting into your cabinet. That said could you post an after pic of your head cabinet. I'm interested as to how you finished it . Thanks

Krum,
It’s still a work in progress. I have a little bit of fiberglass in to do and then I’m going to gel coat the whole head. Should be a few more weeks and then I’ll be done.

Took out the entire sink/floor so I could stand on the hull and get the max headroom and space for the porta-potty.
Setup the porta-potty where the sink was.
Painted to make more better for the toes.
If you copy me, be careful on the depth, the ballast tank goes under the bathroom floor.
Note the small white strip near the door = on top of the ballast tank.
Use wet-wipes or bottled water at kitchen sink for hands.

Looks great. I like the clean bilge look.leefrankpierce wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2026 12:16 pm Took out the entire sink/floor so I could stand on the hull and get the max headroom and space for the porta-potty.

That part of my bilge always has some rain water in it, especially if my cockpit canvas isn't in place. I spent an hour a couple of days ago with a bottle of Tolly's, going around from fitting to fitting to try to seal them up. Time will tell.

Hi LeeFrankPierce!
That looks like it does the trick!
Nice work!
Beats leaving the head door open and sitting sideways on the port-o-let!
(I’m still just very appreciative that our Mac26X actually has a head on board otherwise…
….well you get the picture
