Santa Cruz Cruise, Info Please...

Post by Maccpt »

Hi to all Macfriends:

I'm planning a Cruise to Santa Cruz Aug 6-11. I'll be driving from Colorado to Santa Barbara Aug 4-5, back Aug 11-12.
I'll be meeting up w/ fellow Macfriend (26x) from Sacramento. But neither of us have had any experience with the channel. I have Brian Fagan's Book, that's the limit of my knowledge...Any help/local advice would be appreciated from anyone w/ knowledge of native :) customs.

We will need to park for the week, any suggestions/advise?

Does the Marina reserve slips?

Would like to enjoy the last day of "Fiesta Days" Sun. 6th before sailing to the island on the 7th. Any suggestions? places to go, restaurants close by?

And lastly, is it really SAFE to anchor for several nights around the island? I've heard of really strong winds in the channel...

Thanks for your help

See my reply in upcoming events...Santa Barbara can be tuough finding a slip and parking for your rig. Ventura and Channel Islands are just as close and much easier to park and slip.

Fagan's book is the bible. Just watch the weather and be flexible to work around it. PM me for other info.
