I think I'll try it when I finish my galley mods, if I can find the actual amperage used by the fan so I can figure it into my energy budget on the boat. I won't use ice, to avoid water spill issues. I'll use frozen drinking water bottles or Blue Ice, and close off all of the boat except the sleeping area with a curtain.

Anything that could make possible a few more good night's sleep during TX summers when it's still 95 at midnight is worth a try for only $40.

Simple math.
a 5000 BTU air conditioner produces enough cold to freeze almost half a ton of ice in 24 hours. lets say it is twice as much cooling as you need in a mac, and lets say you want to keep the cabin cold for 14 hours.
You would need around 300 lbs of ice and a device to melt it and put the cold into the air. Not sure how much 300 lbs of ice would cost, or how practical it would be to lug it to the boat. Just a bad idea.
