Venture 2-24

Post by Krusti »

Hello everyone. I'm looking at buying a Venture 2-24 (as astarter boat cause I'm cash strapped right now), it was actually advertised as a Macgregor 25. Is it a weighted swing keel boat like the 25? Any major differences between it and the 25? Thanks for any info.

see http://www.wadler.org/Boating/index.html

this guy has some tables showing the hull sizez, sail sizes, keel weights, etc....

I have a 224 as well...just got it, can't tell you much but there is apparently little difference between the two boats, the 25 has a couple of inches, a few more pounds here and there and an extra window.....the 24 is a swing keel...

This site has lots of info on the older models

THose little ventures are pretty tough boats. A gentleman had one at barnegat bay and he was able to handle some pretty rough stuff with it.

I had a V17, 24 and a 224 back in the 1970s. As I recall there were many similarities but the 25 was a nicer looking boat and the 25 incorporated a partial liner for a more finished interior look, two windows on each side rather than one and may have had a slightly larger cabin.
