catigale..
as an aside to stop the Mac dance on my swinging mooring:
I use an old car tyre on a short rope - just under surface.
Stops the dance brilliantly. Don't let out too much rope, or tyre can bury itself and you'll never get it out!
Sorry to go off post slightly!

I took a permanent black marker and marked my anchor rode every 10 feet. one stripe for each 10 feet. Now i can tell at a glance how much rode I have out. I didnt allow for the 15 ft of chain...figured that could just be an extra and I know its there.

I can't wait to modify the Elana Nina's bow roller tp accomodate my 10 kg. Ronca. After having down-sized in boats from shipping a 60 kg. Bruce and 400 feet of 1/2 cable (with a nice shot of 1/2 chain in between ) and being used to sleeping comfortably through sustained 90-100 kts winter Kodiak blows I'm a bit insecure sailing with only the little aluminum Fortress (the largest that will fit in the M's locker).

I'm working out a placement for a Lewmar manual windlass, hoping to hang the Ronca on the bow roller, and fill the locker with rode.

Trailering down to Kachemak Bay tomorrow with it's 20-30 ft. tidal ranges (second only to the Bay of Fundy, and not by much. Anchoring in a small reefy cove with near 30 ft. tides, figuring scope becomes weird. That's when it's nice to have a bomb of an anchor one can let down with little scope (at high tide) and hope for the best.
