What's on your wrist while you're at the helm?

This may be a stretch, but may be not. . .

Sailors have all the latest stainless bling on their boats. shiny metal gadgets, precision machined, measured, and polished. Watches are displayed throughout SAIL, Cursing World, and other rags. It's an important part of our instrumentation.

Mostly it's just an addiction.

I'd like to know what kind of timepieces you guys are using out there.

Might prove interesting.

I do not like wearing my watch when sailing. If I need the time, I go below and check it or check the GPS.

I tend to be a bit hard on watches so I wear a Timex good to 100 meters.

Hey, I come in not logged in and I see what the poll is doing, but it won't let me vote. I log in and it's as MTC expected me to see, little white circles to click onto.

Knowing what time it is along with my sextant is important. If I'm running short of grub and fresh water I want to know if I've run past the half way point to Portugal.

I have a Kix Atomic Bomb watch. My mate wakes me at 0155 and I stager out onto the deck. I face northwest with my wrist in the air and a sonic signal is sent out from Fort Collins, Colorado, to correct and set the time. That way, I'm only about 18 feet off at most on my latest datum.

No watch. My cell phone always has the correct time, and I don't even have to reset it when crossing time zones.

I wear nothing on my wrist! The whole point of sailing for me is getting away from the things of man.

I wear a rubber band on my left wrist to remind me which side of the boat is PORT!

Last year I got a Sponge Bob watch from one of the fast food coronary places. That would be appropriate !

No watch when sailing.
I have a ship's clock on the flat spot just foreward of the dinette. I can see it from the helm and cabin.
A watch would just get in the way and also tends to corrode in salt air.
GPS and cell phone also has the time.

By the way, I tried a razor phone and took it back. what a piece of junk that was.

Six years ago when I retired... a friend of mine asked for my cheap
little Timex that I was wearing while we were enjoying a couple of
cold ones. He then threw it in the lake that was next to us...
stating that I didn't need that thing any more..!

For so many years I had to account for my time via D.O.T. logs and
productivity reports for my employer... that I had no problem with his
assertiveness. (smile)

Haven't worn one since that little incident.
