Hi all. I found some blisters when I hauled the boat out last weekend. I would like to repair the blisters and seal the bottom with 200E epoxy. I plan on keeping this boat for awhile. My question is.........is there an easy way to remove the VC17 paint? I have read that chemical stripping is messy and expensive. Is there a gentle way to sand blast? Some thing that could be used instead of sand that will remove the paint and not strip the gelcoat?
Any ideas or successful attempts?
Thanks.
Brian.

Self sticking chemical removal pads
In Sail magazine there was a company that had self adhesive stripping pads. I can't seem to find them on the net but will check my library of Sail mags when I get home.
The gist was you simply apply them, wait for the proper amount of time and peel them off.
Here is an alternaive but looks to be a little harder to apply.. http://www.dumondchemicals.com/html/products.htm
It's call Peel away paint stripper.. They have a version that does the bottom paint but not the barrier coat..
