Front hatch weather strip replacement

Post by Night Sailor »

Today was preventative maintenance day. I replaced the OEM front hatch seal on my X with a universal tubular type weatherstrip bought at AutoZone that is virtually identical to the original. $15 for 8 ft. I used all but about four inches of it. Self adhesive tape bonds it in place. Worst part was cleaning off the old tape that the factory had used. Where the ends met I bonded them with 3m weatherstrip adhesive to assure no leaks.

Hey, NightSailor - do you have the part number off the AutoZone package?

Would love that as well, this is one of my next leakproofing projects.
