Re: leaks
I think Mac uses a Dow Corning product. I don't recall the number. I have some ordered with some boats that are being shipped this week. I'll let you know when I get it.kmclemore wrote:You'll have to get in line to do that, Bill. (Actually, I was looking to have you confirm that the black sealant for use around the windows was indeed 5200.)

WATER LEAKS
When I got my new M it had two places where I discovered leaks. It was leaking from the NEW 07 STYLE PEDESTAL where the metal plates held it to the cockpit deck. I put lots of sealant around those and also around any gaps etc on the fibreglass pedestal, it was leaking onto the rear bed cusions. The other place I found a leak was on the port side , water was dripping onto the port seat in the cabin. I found it was leaking from the slide for the hatch cover. I tried to take the slide off but some of the screws holding the slide were only turning around as they were stripped.I pulled the round plug from the ceiling above the seat and then tried to seal the screw from underneath. Trouble was , I could'nt reach the screw with the sealer nozzle. I will need another pair of hands, one to push the screw from underneath while I unscrew from the top then reseal the screw holes. Its alright to suggest we take our boats back to the dealer for repairs but I got mine from Bill at Boats4Sail 500 miles from where I live. I must add the leaks were not Bills fault. It was only at his place a few days when I picked it up, and weather was very dry, so no chance to check for leaks. BILL IS A VERY GOOD AND HELPFUL DEALER.

Never let it be said we can't learn from our kids... My 10 year old solved the water issue in the v berth; 'Dad, did you try the hatch? That worked last time.' Sure enough she took care of it. Althought there was a little weeping from the hatch when we first got it (slept on it overnight at BWY when we were picking it up), tightening the hatch fixed it. Of course I forgot about the effects of shaking and rattling caused by the 150 mi drive home. When I saw the water I immediately ruled out the hatch because I remembered tightening it down already (in Seattle)
. Anyway, all is well now, except the swab is gunning for a promotion now

Might be a bit embarrassing to admit, but simple to fix. Glad to see your troubles . . . with the boat water ingress are solved and sorry to see that you have already received a demotion and there by a pay rate cut as well.Shane wrote:Never let it be said we can't learn from our kids... So far we have had no water problems in over 2 years with our 05M .
