A Great December 16th
A Great December 16th
Today approached 70 deg, the lake (Wheeler in North Alabama) was smooth, except for the wind ripples from the 7-8 mph wind. Unlike many times on the lake, no wind shifts or loss of wind. Three plus hours of woooonderfullll sailing with wife and friends. Honestly, it just doesn't get better. Did I mention it was Dec 16th. What a great day!

Its suppose to reach 14 deg cel. today hear in Ontario "eat your hearts out" had 30cm snow all melted now & the ice on the pool cover is melting
for now that is
I'm going to get the tractor out & munch up all the leafs that'll give me more mod time in the spring then put the snow blower on the tractor then the snow tires on the car & truck
then get into shape x country sking when snow comes back
can't wait for the -45 wind chill factor to get here
won't be long Jan boat show
then spring just around the corner

Slightly different outlook here as temps push to the high 30s (C) more consistently, and summer holidays only a few days away.
Tempering all that is the on-going drought which had Melbourne moved to stage 3 water restrictions on the weekend. Stage 3 is no sprinklers; no watering lawns or washing cars at all; gardens can be watered by trigger hose on two days of the week between 9pm and 7am on an odds and evens system; pools & spas can't be filled or topped up, except by bucket. Not a good situation.
Plus, I have had to map out an alternate route to our holiday destination because of huge bushfires that will certainly still be burning at the weekend along our intended route.
Gee, summer used to be just fun!

We're going to have a terrible weather week in Marina Del Rey next week - - - temps only going to be in the mid 60's all week. There will be wind though - - - so I guess we'll just have to go sailing next week with a sweatshirt on

I absolutely love this site.
Worldwide members. When one of us is berried in snow, the other is having balmy sailing conditions and the time of their lives. Some write about how they need to cool down their cabin’s, while others never see uncomfortable temps.
Feels great to be part of such a diversified group with vast levels of experience.
Happy Holidays

Yeah, but I still hate the folks enjoying all that warm weather right about now.beene wrote:I absolutely love this site.

I've had so much good sailing lately in 70 degree temps and 15 to 20 knot winds I decided to take the 16th off... and wash the boat. Now she looks new again and no more scum on the water line between bootstripe and bottom paint. These are the days I longed for when the temp was 100 F, last summer and there was no wind on the water.
