Rudders up when motoring

I also recently purchased a 19' and had it out motoring the other day. The rudders scrapped the loading dock when I was offloading so I pinned them back up. HOW does one pin them DOWN (or at least one down per what I have just read on this thread) without getting soaked when launching?? I will need to have them down when I learn to sail it. However, unlike the X/M powersailers, the 19 doesn't seem to have a way to adjust on the go.

Highlander has a 19, maybe he can chime in.
