Flooring improvement

Don't think I have enough posts to attach pictures. I just put wood flooring into my 26D. I saw the snap together outdoor wood flooring on HGTV and found several sites through Google. Easy to install and basically no maintenance for the tiles installed in the cabin. At www.decktiles.org there is a link for refurbished deck tiles. I bought 3 boxes of the 8 slat tiles and had more than enough to do the interior as well as the footwell of the cockpit. Not sure I'm going to leave it in the cockpit because it may not be as secure for footing. On the plus side it keeps leaves and other items from clogging your drain in the cockpit.

The 8 slat tiles allowed me to easily measure and cut pieces between the boards to fit almost custom perfect. Little more difficult for the aft most portion of the cockpit as it gets gradually a little narrower. Really improved the look of the interior from just the fiberglass floor.

I will post as soon as I can. I forgot to mention that these tiles have a rubber extruded ridge grid on the bottom which keeps the wood off direct contact of the deck.

I put in the Deck Dry (??) tiles in my cockpit last season - in the faster white colour, covered by blue paint of course.

The Admiral really liked how they kept the boat cleaner by trapping dirt up top instead of tracking down into the salon. This worked for both the kids and the dogs. A bucket of seawater in the cockpit rinsed it down, making for less cleaning and more fun time. You can trim them to fit the cockpit with scissors. I was going to remove them for winter but never got to it, so they are under 18 inch of snow right now, so the picture looks like this:

My son gave me a 10 sq. ft. box of these tiles from the Christmas Tree Shops in upstate NY (about $50). Being nautically obsessive / compulsive, I rotated half the wood pieces on each tile 90 degrees to get away from the checkerboard look, and replaced all the screws with stainless ones to avoid rust stains on the cockpit. I then made some oak strips to frame the tiles fore and aft and hold the whole thing on the floor of the cockpit. It looks great but my family things I'm daft. All in all, a great project.
