1/8 teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water or 1 TEASPOON per 10 GALLONS. I had to go back to a Scout book from the late 80's to find. Been a Scoutmaster for 19 years. Bleach can be harmful if not used correctly. With all the RV water tank treatments available at big box stores you might want to try one of those. Also consider something like a Brita water filter pitcher.

This method adds a high level of chlorine to the water and I think would work if the tanks are going to sit for awhile with water in them BUT this is not how to make a good clup of coffee. You are going to want some type of filter to help with the taste.

After a trip, we pump out most of the water, then put a teaspoon of bleach in each water tank and add a little fresh water. Right before the next trip, we pump out all of the water in the tanks, flush with fresh water, and then fill with fresh water.

We also add some bleach to the empty ballast tank and then seal it. That kills any critters that might be harmful to the next lake we visit.

We don't use bleach around electronics or electrical connections. It creates a bunch of corrosion really quickly.
