Weird
Really weird - I can't understand this PO's enclosure strategy.

I'm baffled... perhaps he though it needed even MORE freeboard!
What amazes me is the fact that he added a 'ramming prow' for some reason... did he use it as an ice breaker?

Re: Weird
It looks like he is trying to make it a full on powercruiser. I bet that tab up front is supposed to help with tracking if he's not using the rudders or swing keel.

Re: Weird
It brings to mind a couple of guys who backed a boat on a trailer up to the solid waste transfer station. The boat looked still usable, but they tipped the boat off the trailer into the bin, and the hydraulic ram proceeded to crunch the boat into splinters. I talked to the guys and learned that they were in the market for a boat trailer. They were able to buy the trailer on condition that they took the boat as well. For a few bucks they were able to make the boat go away, and they ended up with the fine trailer they wanted. It looks to me like this might be a good way to get a serviceable trailer. I'm thinking the boat is modified so severely that it wouldn't be good for much of anything.

Re: Weird
What's with the aluminium water wings? Trying to make it plane better? Or damp some rocking?
And I agree: if the trailer is good, then strip the few good parts off of it for resale, and trash the rest. It would cost more to make it back into a sailboat than just buying a good-enough as-is 26X.

Re: Weird
That Ikea commercial about it being silly because you fell sad for the lamp comes to mind...I feel sad for this boat, really sad. I could see the water wings trying to reduce spray, but any guesses on the 3" PVC pipe running to the bow?
Mind ya for someone to pull half that garbage off, reinstall the rudders for dockside steering and re-power say a good 50hp used @ $3K with the intention of a Mac Trawler, it would be a great deal at $510. You could be on the water for under $5k; Assuming it hasn't been compromised structurally.

Re: Weird
I found a hatch cover for under $600 (see other thread).
This is a seriously awfully weirdly modified boat.
I will guess the pipe contraption off the port bow is a boarding ladder.
Cannot figure out what that contraption high on the port stern is.
No stern lights? Bow lights moved back.
Pedestal located to the top of the starboard cockpit seat??? And what is the platform outboard of that??
I guess the pipe leading back from the bow is for handling the anchor from the cockpit.
I would consider buying this just for figuring out just how far someone could mess up a boat.
