Suzuki DF60 regulator swap

Post by richter372001 »

Hi, all!

Does anyone have any experience with how to exchange the (presumably) bad regulator with a new one?
I'm not too handy with tools, so a step by step would be very much appreciated - my service guy is 100km away and
cannot make it to me any time soon :(

Thanks in advance!

I don't know of a video on this, but the factory manual is online, and here's the page that references the removal and replacement of the rectifier on a DF60:

https://www.maritimepropulsion.com/files/pdf/1001405

Go to page 105 [4-4], and also see page 100 [3-52] for flywheel removal.

Well, I was hoping against hope, but there it is: that is a LOT of removing, dis/reconnecting, in a series of moves, including various covers, the flywheel, ECM unit, etc.
And the sad part is - I already have the manual for my 2001. This might be beyond my abilities, especially since the boat is water, so there would be ample chance for parts to go diving...
Thank you very much for you kind advice, though! This forum once again proves to be an invaluable resource, thanks to knowledgeable people like you
: )

I wouldn't do it with the boat in the water unless you absolutely have to. But, I tend to drop tools and parts overboard.

Me, too. But I kinda have to try it that way, I guess. Maybe not, if I decide to ask the marina owner to lift me up for a couple of hours....
