Summer 2021 Photos

Post by Starscream »

It's always about this time of year that I post some of my fave summer 2021 photos and ask others to do the same.

The snow is falling, the long nights have set in, and sometimes I just browse through photos from last season.

Last year's opening day: as always we are first in, long before the big-crane day.

Finally got that LED deck-light / steaming light combo working with a switch from the cabin.

Boat-based walks are the best, on a trip. Out of the 3 sons, one is obviously the smart-a$$

Gotta love what boat life does for family life.

What other 14-year old kid will hold his mother's hand in public?

Great photos :!:

We only had NiceAft on the water once last summer. We went on NiceAft for a two week, 380 mile (611.5km) on the water cruise to, and around the Chesapeake. We had some rigging problems, so we removed the mast at the Delaware City Marina, and picked it up on the return trip. Each night we slipped at a different marina.

Boaters are friendly people. We met some extremely warm individuals

Delawawre City Marina. Look hard, we're there. :D

Saint Michael's Marina. Everyone seems to be bigger than us. :D :D

Navigating home on the Delaware River. The two longest stretches of the trip were going and coming on the Delaware. About 50 miles (80.4km) each way. Also the most boring part of the trip. When we next make the trip, we are going to trailer to Havre de Grace, Maryland, and then precede south. Last year we went as far south as Saint Michael's. We stopped at Delaware City, Delaware; Havre de Grace, Maryland; Inner Harbor, Baltimore, Maryland; Annapolis, Maryland; and Saint Michael's, Maryland.

We also had a great summer in the water with our Mac. In addition to our wonderful meet-up with Overeasy’s friendly crew, Jan and I enjoyed finally having a sweet running Tohatsu 50D again… it now performs as it should after having it serviced by Phila Boat. Here we are, moving at about 18-19 mph in perfect conditions.

First Launch in SC waters in April from Sam’s Point Landing to Port Royal Marina and first nighttime cruise on new to us rivers and estuaries.

Good course preplanning, sharp lookouts and a bright moon and excellent crew of Admiral and Eldest Daughter who were up to the adventure.

Four months of motor cruising the estuaries, rivers, bays creeks and even out to dip our toes into the actual Atlantic Ocean. Then flying lessons for Over Easy’s new ablative bottom paint and primer

Next off to Lake Champlain VT for 70 night on the water in Over Easy. Meeting lots of fantastic people, other MacGregor Owners and time with both our daughters. From the 90 degree days of Summer to the below 30’s of the solid frost and flurries and being the last boat to leave the marina as the piers were pulled for winter.
Squeezing in a last camping trip once back South at Hunting Island.

We had a beautiful, wonderful, adventure for our first year with Over Easy. From April through November. From first launch to last night camping. We throughly enjoyed navigating our way with the help and encouragement of this forum.

Sorry if the photos are a bit out of sequence but the upload has a mind of it’s own :D :D

Best Regards

Triple bilge pump installation and high bilge water alarm system … and a few other projects before we launched in April

Wife's new business venture had me single handing all Summer hence not too many photos. Really cool trip up the Otter Creek to Vergennes in VT. This is where boats were built for the battle of Valcour 1776 and the battle of Plattsburg 1814. Nice restaurant, public dock and the falls are lit at night w colored lights. Met an interesting 26x owner who runs the enigmamuseum.com site.

Wow, this looks awesome. Must be just around the corner from Basin Harbor, where we often stay. No problem with the mast up, it seems? I'm going to google-map it now.

Found it...that's MACdonough park ;)

All the way there with the mast up, eh? That's now on the to-do list for next year, Covid permitting. Looks like a perfect place for the worst weather.
