Poptop Hold-open + Deck Elect Connectors

Post by billder99 »

It's fun knocking out all the little projects on my new (to me) Mac 26D. Finding the parts is sometimes challenging... thank goodness for this forum! Can someone please tell me where I can get the following items:

1. Poptop: On photo, see the hole at the mast-facing edge of the poptop? There must have been a latch of some sort to connect the poptop to the mast and hold open the poptop... I can easily tie it up, but that requires 2 people, one below and one up on deck... is there a latch I can buy that connects to the mast-slot to hold open the poptop?
2. Electric Connectors: Two photos, showing thru-deck mounted electrical connectors with waterproof rubber boots... for mast wiring. Does anyone know where I can get these?

They have 2-pin and 4-pin types.

There is a similar thread discussing lifting the pop top. Maybe you can find something in there.

Regarding the pop-top, best parts resource for MacGregor parts is Blue Water Yachts. Same company as linked to by JimmyT.

On my 26S, there is an aluminum tab that sits in the slug slot on the mast. Once the pop-top is up and resting against the mast, the tab slide up inside the forward edge, where that hole is. A threaded bolt passes through a hole in the tab and the hole in the top, and threads into a threaded hole on the part of the tab that rests in the slug slot.

I find I have to hold the top up and the tab in place while I fiddle with the tab and bolt, while does not always thread right in, so can be a little frustrating. I'm thinking I might take some XP7 and attache a nut to the outside to help guide the bolt in.
The key to inner peace is to admit you have a problem and leave it at that.
