Fuel bladders?
Fuel bladders?
I was pondering a random thought. Has anyone ever thought of or actually modified the "fuel nooks" by sealing them up and turning them into a built in fuel tank either with a bladder or some encapsulation? I don't think it would be worth the tradeoffs but, it seems like an interesting thought experiment.

I've got 12 gallons on each side with approved gasoline tanks. 24 gallons is usually more than enough for the season for me. I guess if I were going longer more might be nice. But honestly, 24 gallons with my Suzi70 will go many many miles between fill ups.
The ONLY benefit would be to have lots of fuel outside the cabin. But I'm just not seeing the improvement in capacity worth the risk/trouble.

I also have two 12 gallons n tanks. Normally, they are sufficient. We are now on a seventeen day trip around the Chesapeake. I keep one of these in the cabin. https://wavianusa.com/

I also have 2 12 gallon tanks and it does last a long time with my Suzuki 70 which really sips the fuel (at least now that I fixed a fuel leak in it last year)
Interesting idea though of using a fuel bladder inside a modified fuel locker though. Are there bladders out there that you would trust? I had a (cheap) fuel primer bulb go rotten on me this spring after just a couple months of storage out of the sun etc. I'd be worried about a big fuel leak if something similar were to happen.
