Tohatsu 50
1998 Tohatsu 50: Starts fine, runs fine, only problem is when I am pulling up to my mooring and put in neutral the motor dies. Any adjustment to turn up idle?? Idles fine when I first start motor to warm up.

A few things to check, from someone who has had just about every thing go wrong possible on the supposedly most reliable motor on the planet.
in order of likelihood (just my opinions of course)
cause #1
First the carbs may be and probably are full of junk, debris, etc. they are fairly easy to remove and have cleaned. Loosen the oil tank bolts, remove the air intake silencer, unhook the linkages and hoses, and 2 big bolts per carb and off they come. take them to your friendly mechanic and have him put them in his carb cleaner after opening up the bowls. New gaskets would be nice, but on mine they re-used the old ones.
Cause #2
fuel hose may be suckin in air somewhere. check every possible fitting, hose clamp and even the fuel tank top fitting. something is probably sucking air in. WHen you first start the motor you hand primed the bulb, so it is not going to show up until the motor runs on its own for a while.
Cause #3
maybe the idle speed just needs to be adjsuted up a little, or maybe there is a little too much spark advance.
Everyone always says check the spark plugs, but if you change them once a year I doubt it is that.
Of course the fuel tank vent is open.
Good luck.
