Wow....that posting should stimulate some interest....not many know we have Octopus in Tahoe.

At least we have our 2001 26x...'Octopus'. We had a world class day on the lake Sunday. Could have used a bit more wind, however, after our lingering winter, it was clearly best day yet. We put in at a Nevada State Park-Cave Rock. Not too crowded...about half the trailer parking in use. This past wet winter has raised our lake level so that many more of the ramps inactive for several years, are again in use.
The deep blue water with the remarkable clarity never ceases to amaze me....visible to 60' or so, and clean enough to drink. Temps were pushing 70F. The water, as usual, is cold as hull...likely in the 40s. My two grown sons shared the day...mostly motoring. Cruised south past the Zephr Cove Marina where paddle wheeler and trimaran tour boats HQ.
Then south along the Casino/Golf Courses, and sandy beaches near Camp Richardson. We entered Emerald Bay at Vikings Home and beached on the fine white sands for a hike with my Lab. Enjoyed some great onboard music and my sons company as well. Remarkable towering powder-white cumulus clowds around the PM horizon...but none on the lake.
Re your visit...from Martinez, you could come up US50 and launch at Camp Richarson or Tahoe Keys...(call ahead to verify their ramps are open) or I80 via Tahoe City on the north shore. Lots of cool bars here and there around the lake...music only on weekends this time of year-more later. We prefer the more primitive Nevada shore....much undeveloped...check out Sand Harbor etc. Be very cautious of Danger buoys marking shallow or exposed granite rock off most all the points. On the south shore, there is a large shallow....average 5-6'....therefore OK for Macs with centerboard up mostly. You may Google for some Tahoe media with more details, phone numbers, Marine channels etc. Slips are pricey....$50 with elec wouldn't surprise me. Fuel mostly limited to north and south shores. Open anchorages are a bit limited...much of the lake is as much as 1500' deep. We live only ten miles east of the lake....but 1500' lower. We do day trips, and 2-3 day weekends. Our 2005 Toyota 4rnr is a V8 with tow package. We climb the Spooner grade at the 50mph speed limit..no problem. Mileage is only about 17 vs. 20 for my previous 4rnr V6, but it has less torque.

Always happy to visit with a fellow Mac owner. We're in the phone book for Reno. BTW, tipped a few and dinner with MadMike last week....expecting he is on the way back to Sri Lanka....hope the rebel trouble calms down there soon.
We are thinking about joining Mgg for his SF bay cruise in a couple months...maybe see you there if not sooner. Tahoe Jack
