Info on Door County?

Post by JRonUnderSail »

Hi,
Has anyone sailed the Door County area? Where are the best launch ramps and best places to see... I'm planning to be there this summer...
Thanks in advance,
JR

Part of the MacGregorSailors group will be there in late July to early August: http://macgregorsailors.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4190. I had planned to be there, but my wife's work is getting in the way, and I don't think we're going to make it. Quite disappointing because it looks fun.

Door County is wonderful!! Look for the Door County section of this site:
North Cost Cruise

Fish Creek and Ephram have free launch sites and free trailer parking. I launched from Ephram. You'd probably want to launch for the Wisconsin western side or Michigan.

If you launched in Escanaba, MI you could see the area around Fayette, MI (also mentioned in the above site). You might not like the trip lengths 24 miles from Escanaba to Fayette then anther 22 to Washington Island. Escanaba Municipal Marina

Menominee/Marinette is only 16 miles to Fish Creek. Marinette Marine 906-863-8498.

I have cruised around Door County through Sturgeon Bay. It was an excellent cruise but the Green Bay side is much more interesting.

Let me know if you need anymore info. It is a great place to cruise. Be sure to rent a bike (or bicycle built for two) at the beach in Penninsula State park.

Have Fun!!

I actually had a precocious little fella ask me if I could blast my anchors out. Hey, that might be a good idea for a mod.
