I voted main and genoa since that is what I use most of the time. But I also do replace the furler genny with the jib in higher winds occasionally. Problem is that the jib has no U/V strip like the genny does. I'm in the market for a spinnaker and after I get that, I may be more likely to sail more with the jib since it is a better sail for going upwind with...and then I can use the spin to go downwind. The challenge will be so that I can safely single hand the spin while the autopilot is steering. I want to learn how to use the spin in high winds like we do on the racing boats (albeit with a crew of 4-6 people). Gotten up to 9.5 kts on a wavelength 24 which doesn't have a planing hull like the Mac.

Never enough choices : )
I voted M&J because I have but most often its just the main . . . Its fun its easy its not fast but also not threatening. . .
But of course
What type of sails you should ask? Why custom M26X made in Sri Lanka 'S' style 3DL cruising sails of course (Jib, Genny, and eventually 2 Mains-1 that furls & one with full battens) Oh ya, also a non 3DL heavy duty storm staysail for the inner forstay & a small cruising chute in a sleeve. Which ones do I plan on using most? Oh my gosh, all of them I hope! Now if I could only find as good a deal on new running rigging. Anybody need to build a new rope factory in Asia or have special pull with Santa????

HeadSail
I voted Main & Jib even though I have a Genoa that I use too, they are both hank-ons so I check wind conditions before deciding which one to put up - heavy winds = Jib, light winds = Genoa. Perhaps 'other' or 'Both' should be included. I wonder how many others have more than one headsail.

I voted main and genoa but I also use the jib and spinnaker. I've come to the conclusion that the 150% genoa is too big a headsail for my M in a lot of situations. I may switch to the jib for most of my sailing or think about a smaller genoa. When I partially furl my genoa in high winds it's sail shape isn't as good as if I had something smaller like a 130%.
Sails
Been working the
Tracked that mainsail on ebay Last one was $227.00 but reserve was not met.
I've also used the mainsail off my Hobie cat. Seemed to work OK no performance comparisons yet
PS extend my backstay mast bracket when mounting the new Spinaker pulley

I also used a jib from an Echels on another boat as a Blade. It gave the best performance and pointing when the wind picked up. You may have something with that smaller jib or #4 blade if your tracks can throttle up, and support it.
It is very difficult to make the furled genoa perform when reefed, really diminishes drive to say nothing of sheeting angle. A #2, maybe a 130.
Im waiting for Frank to install his Harken Traveler System and welcome the Mainsail control to hold leach tension and sail shape. Call it throttling up and down with the M larger Mainsail to keep the boat on its best sailing lines. Removable Traveler looks like a winner when it arrives.
Etap 24 has been successful with the cross-cockpit removable traveler.
