Working on hiding the wires
There are lots of wires etc. that come down out of the pedestal and then run back across the ceiling of the aft berth . I don't like the looks of it, and have decided to some how, some way hide them all. I still want to have easy access to everything though. What I am going to try is, covering them with a length of 1 1/2" PVC pipe . I have cut just a bit more than 1/3 of the pipe off with a 90 attached at what will be the front . If this doesn't give me enough room I will increase the pipe size to 2 ". The 90 even though cut off does make a nice transition . I have one ready and painted and as soon as I get back to the slip I will let everyone know how it went . I am going to use a Blind nut pop rivet gun, that I bought at Menards to secure the 2 hole straps to hold this in place. Painted the same color as the M interior this should just disappear so to speak .
Sunday was a great day to be sailing on Lake Michigan BTW . We had 3 fantastic hours just zooming back and forth and forth and back . We raced two boats and did quite well imho. . .though by the seat of our pants and a bit unsure of how much heeling she will really take . Also some new friend's we have made at the Marina saw us heading out to bigger water and tried to catch up with us and said . . . .they couldn't : ) they have a Cal 27 (?). We are having a LOT OF FUN with this boat !

Nice idea
Your idea of a tube to cover the wires and cables going aft to the engine sounds good. I've done a white split loom thing on the wires for electronics and such going from the pedestal then forward. When I have to replace my steering and motor cables I will try your idea for covering them. Thanks for sharing the description.

Another annoying thing about wires on a stock boat (Ms anyway) are those that become visable because they don't stay tucked up inside the side walls. I got tired of tucking them back up and finally stuffed short cylindrical sections (~1.5" diameter, 4" long) of foam pipe insulation up into the wall to hold the wires up.
Have never seen the wires fall down since.

HaHaHa
Great minds seem to run in the same circles... I used pipe insulation to act as conduits for wires running in the uppper side panels of my X and thought I was being very clever... and unique... ha ha.
Good afternoon all....I had also hid some wires on our 2004M.I needed to run some from behind the "switch panel" to the other side of the cabin and down to the batteries. May be unorthodox, but I think it came out good.

The first picture is the top{unfinished}, the second is the bottom{unfinished},and the third is the bottom finished. That is the cabin ladder pipe, port side going out. ....Happy Sailing....Don

Has anyone tried to use the existing "lamp cord" that Macgregor used to go from the battery to the panel, to pull new wires up to the little panel or otherwise modify a very unsatisfactory arrangement. The wires behind the panel are too short to get behind the panel without pulling connections loose.
