Flying Cars

Post by Jim/OUR PET »

Went out Friday on Puget Sound for our first sail of the season. We had a great time until.... the port genny car let loose and nearly hit my daughter! winds were not high... 10-15 mph. we were sailing under 150 genny alone. i did notice i ran both sheet lines over the rail rather than through the rail. i adjusted both sheets, tacked and was on a nice beam reach when the starboard car let loose!

i re-fit both cars back onto the track after each incident and had no further problems. i'm just curious if this has happened to any others. luckily no one was hit with flying cars, but the opportunity was there.

Happened to me once. make sure pin is facing aft and is seated properly in the hole. With a good blow there is a lot of tension on the sheet so be exra careful.

There should really be a stop on the forward side of the track!!
