Re: Water Leak experts!!

Definetely check the daggerboard trunk where it meets the top of the deck. This will have to be done from inside of the boat by removing the access panels and then the flotation foam. The top of the DB trunk is flanged and secured with bolts and sometimes (as in my case) there was not a lot of seala...

Water leaking from daggerboard trunk

A couple days ago I noticed that the carpet opposite the head was wet and further inspection found some water in the storage area below in the port-side lockers. About 2-3 cups. The water was fresh as the water in the ballast has chlorine in it to prevent algae. Today, we had rain and I took the opp...

Got ballast?

Hi all, Second season on a mooring and have read, heard different opinions regarding having the ballast in while on a mooring. What are some of the advantages for both cases? Ballast, no ballast. My concern is the extra strain on the mooring, lines, etc ., with ballast in so unless there is a compel...

Re: 26m sailing performance

Last summer with the boat on a mooring had to replace a damaged DB and didn't want to drop the mast, so I inserted the DB from beneath the boat. Had to fight the current a bit, but only took about 5 minutes!

Re: Finally, Finally and Finally I got my mac26m!

Sailing lessons are a good idea (lots of good sailing schools in Mtl) to get the basics down and then just start sailing when the wind and conditions are favourable. Each trip will add to your experience and knowledge base and take advantage of all the great advice here on this forum. I learned a lo...

Re: Finally, Finally and Finally I got my mac26m!

Congrats on your new Mac Paul. There are several M26's sailing on Lac St. Louis so you will definitely not be the lone Mac on the water this summer. Where will you be sailing from?

Re: Where to get custom graphic and boat name

I used BoatNames.net this past spring and was impressed with quality and ease of applying the name and reg numbers to my boat. They even sent me a replacement free of charge when I screwed up applying one of the reg numbers! The films are quality and are marine grade so that they will last w/o fadin...

Re: Ballast at finger?

Sorry for the late reply all. Thanks for the great and reassuring advice. Rob, I think I'll take your advice and get Lucy walking the deck our next time out - water willing!
Looks like our club was built on a marsh at this point. Lots of weed. At least the herons are enjoying it!

Ballast at finger?

Hi all, I have kept the ballast filled on my 26M while it is moored on a finger at my sailing club. The water has dropped at lot this summer and the boat sits with approximately 2 feet of water below the hull. I was considering removing the ballast to lighten the boat and provide a little more breat...

Re: Slip fees

I pay approximately $400 a year for my slip, membership fees and winter storage.
We are a military sailing club and most of the work is done by members so no large overhead for staffing, etc.

Re: boat capsized - 3 children dead

27 people on a 34' foot boat!! Hard to believe that a number of those on board would not have questioned the number and refused to go on board. Where do you fit 27 people?? I guess people's normal reservations and good sense get swamped by the occasion. I wonder if the skipper will be held accountab...

Re: Question about floor in head on M model.

Bob: as was previously stated .. Its going to be IMHO.. a couple days effort to gain about and Inch.. 2 of us have opened that area up to have a look see and there just isn't a lot to be gained.. I think most guys would be more than willing to work a couple of days to gain an inch or so! That said,...

Re: Transom/motor well drain plugged up

Hey Rick,

Just finished cleaning out my transom drain of assorted gunk using a high tech twig. A screen certainly sounds like a good idea.
Couldn't find it in the mods section. What is labelled under?

thanks
