Where Can I Low Tide Beach in So. Cal

Post by pokerrick1 »

Anyone know of a place in Southern California where the tide goes out from the beach far enough (and comes back in within 24 hours please) so that a Mac can be "low tide beached" high and dry and then refloated at high tide?

I can't think of a spot but I would sure appreciate any help from you guys in locating one around here! We have everything else! There must be a spot somewhere??

Make sure the beach has white sand...

The tide comes in faster that way...

Ok - - - but I have never seen white sand in So. Cal - - - but then again I've never seen blue sand either :D

I've never confirmed this, but my son informed me that the SoCal coastline is off-limits for beaching all boats larger than a dinghy.

I wouldn't doubt it - - - but that's why I posted this question - - - to see if anyone had a spot.

My main sailing buddy is a very active Coast Guard Aux member, and I've mentioned beaching (both straight on and low tide beaching) to him many times - - - and he has never mentioned that So Cal beaches are off limits except for dingbats - - - I mean dinghys. I sure would like to find a spot around here!

PS Tang - this is an example of our PM :D

Not that beaching

Post by pokerrick1 »

Dennis;

I didn't mean with your boat for low tide beaching - - - that will be easy.

I meant use your boat for straight in beaching at Lake Perris or someplace like that :D

PS Surely you don't want me to scratch up my white (painted black) bottom - - - oh, I forgot, you have a naturally black bottom :)

The Coast Guard won't let you beach anywhere now, in this post 9-11 world. They've yelled at me several times for being too close to shore at Malibu, Venice, and Redondo Beaches.

I must be deaf, 'cause I keep doing it. When you have a Mac, you can always just shrug and do it again somewhere else - 'cause there's so many of us and our sails aren't numbered!

Great! I'm still fooling with propellers, and hoping to get a self-steering rig someday. Are you going to Catalina June 6-7-8? Hope to see you there again. See other thread.
