Anyone know of a place in Southern California where the tide goes out from the beach far enough (and comes back in within 24 hours please) so that a Mac can be "low tide beached" high and dry and then refloated at high tide?
I can't think of a spot but I would sure appreciate any help from you guys in locating one around here! We have everything else! There must be a spot somewhere??
I wouldn't doubt it - - - but that's why I posted this question - - - to see if anyone had a spot.
My main sailing buddy is a very active Coast Guard Aux member, and I've mentioned beaching (both straight on and low tide beaching) to him many times - - - and he has never mentioned that So Cal beaches are off limits except for dingbats - - - I mean dinghys. I sure would like to find a spot around here!
The Coast Guard won't let you beach anywhere now, in this post 9-11 world. They've yelled at me several times for being too close to shore at Malibu, Venice, and Redondo Beaches.
I must be deaf, 'cause I keep doing it. When you have a Mac, you can always just shrug and do it again somewhere else - 'cause there's so many of us and our sails aren't numbered!
Great! I'm still fooling with propellers, and hoping to get a self-steering rig someday. Are you going to Catalina June 6-7-8? Hope to see you there again. See other thread.
