Wow :!: - What a showing of Canadian music on this thread! (BTO, csnY). And all mentioned by non-Canadians (NSW, IL, NH). Maybe I have underestimated the cosmopolitan role of Canadian music. :o

Shift & throttle cables? Twice, while one the water, I've been able to replace them, because I had them onboard as spares. The alternative when I didn't have them, was to swap the two, in both the control box & at the motor to restore throttle at the helm & reach over and shift at the motor - with cover off - to continue the trip.
BTO............BTO???????? are they still alive...
Alive & kickin'! Randy & Fred are back together with a new album, under the name Bachman & Turner, released a few months ago. While new material, it's a typical collection of their hard driving & jazzy bit influences that they were known for over 35 years ago. While not as polished as the older recordings, the magic is still there, Randy's guitar and Fred's gravelly song voice. Absent tho, are Robbie Bachman & Blair Thornton.

In case you missed it 40 or so years ago, their pre-BTO albums...under the name
Brave Belt (1 & 2) were re-released a few years ago. BB1 is more Guess Who-like, BB2 is more BTO-like.

Back in the mid '70's I used to wear out my father's BTO 8-tracks. Good stuff - check it out!

Pretty extensive tool box kept in an orange pelican box...lives under rear galley seat on our boat

Spark plugs

spare prop and install kit (both main motor and kicker) - also socket to remove prop nuts

Spare water pump impeller - still using the 2002 original - also need deep socket for the nuts to replace this one

Multimeter, wire, crimps for electrical stuff - when you get home, cut off the crimps and solder connection.

Spare bulbs all over boat.

when I'm working on the boat, which has been a lot lately, I take note of the most used tools. Above the required coast guard requirements I suggest the following. wire, duct tape, a bottle of 5200, hammer and nails. :D On a more serious note. I have always needed pliers, common sockets sizes, stiff wire, dry towels, large and small crescent wrenchs, screw drivers of all sizes. My newest addition I am looking for is a small battery powered drill with several bit sizes.

You will be depending on your use....You would be amazed at how much stufffff I can store under that foreword dinette seat. I have 4 12" x 18" x 1.5" "clear" tackle boxes.. Crimps of 3 sizes YBR in every configuration known to man. 1 is just SS Nuts and bolts and washers in a lot of sizes another is SS screws and pins and clips the 4 is do-dads. That area runs along the length of the Hull so its not flat and its part of the bilge.. I cut parabolic light lens( 2x4 ) to fit level and flat.. I have a blow mold case Tool set from West Marine..http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/st ... sNum=10322

You look at the list and you know its not complete....we've now got to the stage of organising a complete inventory for our boat and a complete one for our camper.......otherwise its "lets go.....wait just got to check we haven't borrowed anything and not put it back......3 hours later....finally out the door"
I'm trying to set us up so really its 1.turn on fridge and pack it 2.grab the clothes and we're off.We now have vacuum bags for bedding and towels etc so they stay onboard and don't get wet..........because if you saltwater sail everyhing will feel wet sooner or later.Food isthe other thing we've started to vacuum pack in portions.........all I have to organise now is a whats called a roadtrain to carry all the things my lovely admiral wants to take......"roadtrain" Australian trucks with not one but 2 or 3 trailers totalling 100 tons or more!!!

After typing this I realised that basically we want to be as comfortable as home when we go away sailing or camping oh yes forgot a couple of things like......a good book and then the things we don't really want but don't seem to get away from.....mobile phone/modem and laptop...oh the joy of being in business.... and the need to be reachable
