Etec 50 HP Prop for 26M

Post by No Fixed Address »

Has anyone had experience with the Evinrude Etec 50 hp 14" pitch x 13" diameter prop on the 26M or 26X. that they can share. The Evinrude part number is 177149. I hope this prop gives 5,500 rpm and good out of the hole performance. If someone has used this prop, what revs and speed do get at WOT and is there any cavitation?

I have been searching for the "right" prop and I am told this is as good as it gets. Any ideas?

Thanks

Phil, my suspicion is that this would be way too deep of a prop, you should be looking in the 10 - 12 " pitch range. , i dont think you're going to get anywhere near that rpm with it...

Unless the prop hub is spun out anyway.........

Oddly enough, I have a 14" diameter 13" pitch prop on my etec 50. That's how the dealer set it up and his recommendation for all-around use.

With that prop, 4 adults and full ballast the engine turns at 5100 WOT for about 18 mph. Best speed I've seen was 21 mph with one person and no ballast.

Can't comment on cavitation since I have nothing to compare to and wouldn't know it if I saw it.

I put a 14-13 prop on my 50ETEC because a 14-11 wasn't available from Michican prop at the time. The X did 21 statute at 5700 rpm, basically empty boat. I will try the 14-11 this winter when I get back to FL.

I forgot to mention I do not have any cavitation because I have the anti-cavition set up properly in relation to to the keel of the boat. ( Should be within one inch below the keel)

Thanks for the input guys. My Initial reaction was an 11" pitch but I will try the 13" pitch and see how it goes. I'll report back.
