Sorry to hear about your loss Tim, Hope she had a good life. My losses
in life tend to make me feel watched over after a time. Save a spot in your boat and heart for her when you go sailing.
Mike
Mike it was good to see you Monday, also It looks as I will need a new motor in about 6 months can you get me a good deal on the etech-90?
My whaler motor is getting old and the suz. 50 on the back of my Mac will do nicely.
It seems that there will be around 8-10 boats so far. Like Scott said I plan to go over with him on Friday, stay for awhile and then Sat go around the horn to Cat harbor. Anyone that is going straight over to Cat harbor shouldnt have any problems getting fuel as I think Mark is going to bring a small cart, You can walk over to the other side and fuel up and bring the tank back.
Scott if your going to tow your dingy then I will too, and the speed your talking about wont be a problem. Hope theres wind in the morning Then I can sail straight over to two harbors at around 5 mph. Bring lots of snacks and I have a new video for you to watch. Its about 1.5 hours long and its all about Catalina you can watch it as you check your milage going over......
Anyone bringing a generator?
Phil did you catch the plan for Sat. just meet up with Mike at the fuel dock at 9 am, Rick and Mark should be there too plus who ever is going with Mike. I like your family good to meet them Sunday.
New mod installed monday I will unvail it in Catalina, simple and
eliminates the need for sail ties on the main.
Boat got washed for me Monday night in the rain....
cant wait see all there...

For those of you who haven't done the trip before, don't get too freaked out about the fuel issue. If you have 2 12 gallon tanks, you have nothing to worry about unless you plan on gunning it the entire way. We have gone back and forth several times from MDR to Cat Harbor and use just a little over 12 gallons. If you don't have 2 tanks or if they are just 2 6 gallon, then you will need to go get gas most likely...

Hey, it's gonna be good! Wind 10-14 knots, 5' swells, 65 degrees, 50% sky cover.
Guys, are we going to use Channel 68?
Tim, sorry you can't go. Condolences.
Mike Inmon, congratulations on joining the MacGregor Sailors; any more of your recent customers going? Who's Phil?
Diane is really bummed now that so many women seem to be going. I don't think that she can change her plans . . .
What is the condition of the path between Cat Harbor and the Isthmus? Is it bumpy, smooth, paved, dirt? It matters which wheels I bring.
My dingy (inflatable raft) will be the slowest, as I have oars. I'm bringing a compressor that will blow up a raft in three minutes. Are folding lawn chairs a good idea?

When I'm out in the boat for a day or weekend and Diane gets stuck in the driveway (again) trying to drive my 6-speed manual transmission. I think that I have maybe one more of these events to have happpen - and then I will be joining you. But this weekend, she is going to take the van home and we'll leave the trailer at Inmon's. I don't think that there is any way to leave a trailer in the MDR lot overnight and not be attacked by the parking nazis, 'cause where would you put your ticket stub on a trailer?

Mark, you are right about the parking lot...no unhitched trailers allowed! Tried to leave, last november when we were down for the get together, luckily the parking lot guards saw me and warned me. So we left it hitched and made the long walk to the grocery store.
Wish I was going this weekend, weather looks nice. But alsas, I am a judge in the Bristol Boat competition at CIYC this sat. Enjoy and looking forward to reading all about it.

Fooooooooood... Karen and I are planing to eat out most of the time. so she just wants to bring some light weight stuff to eat. If she changes her mind the store there has everything. My BBQ took a hit from the trailer as I was backing it in a couple weeks ago and no time to fix it.
as we are going over slow I will bring the big dingy motor to putts with.
Im going to tow the dingy.
I bought another anchor Sunday at west, pay alot, marine I ended up getting a kit, chain rope and anchor 79 bucks, Turns out the anchor is bigger than my stock one and just fits in the anchor locker. So the OG one is tied to the bow now.
getting ready is part of the fun. the plan for me is get off work Fri. morning around 5am meet karen toss the dingy on the truck launch go back get the mac meet Scott and get going. I will sleep part way there as karen takes the helm. Hope fully the auto pilot will do most of the work.
I do have a back up BBQ if thats what you guys want to do one night.
I have some Xmas wine I will bring but plan to drink all the wine you guys bring first. And will eat all Marlos cheese too. No, better not I want to go with you guys again so Ill bring most of what Ill consume.
Scott I need to go on some hikes with you and Marlo, Im getting fat. So if you want the company? I was thinking of roller blades so you two can just pull me around with you but it wont do anything for my gut so ill force myself to walk.
cant wait ............

Great trip
Well my first trip to Catalina is over and I would like to thank Mark and Mike Inmon for making this a good trip. The weather could have been better but I learned a lot from everyone. I would also like to thank AYA16 for trying to keep track of me.
Things I learned
1 Don't take anything you don't need.
2 Make sure you have gas & oil spare parts.
3 Get more familiar with the radio.
4 Bring Fowl weather gear.
5 Organize And reorganize everything.
This kind of trip was good for me to tune up my boat handeling. All in all this was well worth the weekend. It was kind of like a mini seminar on anchoring and rafting up during windy conditions. How to get a mooring and just general boat seamanship ( Mark don't forget the link to your sons site )
